Nashua Choral Ensemble Members
Carol Miller, Interim Director
has been singing in choirs and choruses for as long as she can remember,
beginning with junior choir at church in Lowell, MA. She received a bachelor's
degree and a master's in Music Education at Lowell State College (now
UMass/Lowell), and now she's happily retired after 26 years as a music
specialist in the Chelmsford, MA school system. Before joining the Nashua
Symphony Choral Society ten years ago, Carol sang with the Chelmsford Choral
Society and the Westford Chorus. She became a member of the NCE in September
2000 and enjoys the challenge of singing in and conducting a small group.
Amy DeRoche, soprano
Amy has sung with women's and mixed choruses since high
school. She studied voice with a private teacher for 5 years and after
graduating high school joined the Nashua Symphony Chorus in 1997.
She took a break from singing in 1999 and re-auditioned in 2005. She joined
the NCE in 2007. She currently serves on the Chorus board and is a
co-librarian.
Nina Eppes, soprano
has been singing in church choirs, school choruses, and/or community choruses
since elementary school. In addition to being a member of the Nashua Symphony
Chorus, which she joined in 1988, Nina is a member of the
New World Chorale
and also has appeared in several
Granite State Opera
productions as an ensemble member. In the NSC, Nina has served as section leader,
membership chair, vice president, and president. She has been a member of the NCE
since its inception.
Sarah Shor, soprano
Sarah has been singing in choruses for most of her life, starting with the Harlem
Boys Choir at the age of 11. She went on to sing in high school, with
the Hampshire College Chorus in college, and with the Harvard Radcliffe
Chorus in graduate school. She played Baroque recorder for a while and
studied voice for several years. Sarah has been a member of
the Nashua Symphony Chorus since 1998 and currently serves on the the
chorus board as Tickets Chairperson.
Carol Blodgett, alto
Carol has sung with the Nasuha Symphony Chorus since 1966. She also has
sung with the Madrigal Singers, the former NSCS Chamber Choruses, and
the Tanglewood Chorus at Tanglewood under the direction of Seiji Ozawa.
Carol was a preschool teacher at White Wing School for several years
and presently provides music learning experiences for the children at
that school. Carol has also held many positions working "behind
the scenes" in the NSC organization, including serving twice as
president. Currently she is co-librarian.
Frances Forrester, alto
Frances has been a continuous member of the Nashua Symphony Chorus
since 1977, contributing as a singer, librarian, and section leader.
She has participated in many concert tours in the United States and
internationally with the Nashua Symphony Chorus and the New
Hampshire Friendship Chorus. Frances joined the NCE in 2000.
Sandra Hurd, alto
Sandra has been a member of the Nashua Symphony Chorus since 1975 and
has served on the chorus board as membership chairman and section leader.
On concert tours, she has traveled in the United States and to Europe
and Asia. Her last concert tour was to Korea and South Vietnam with
the New Hampshire Friendship Chorus in the summer of 2002. Sandra joined
the NCE in September 2002.
Kimberly Parker, alto
Kimberly began singing in an all women's choir in high school and then continued on
in mixed choirs in college. She was a member of the University of Maine Singers from
1990-1992 at Orono, ME. After being away from music for several years,
she joined the Merrimack Concert Association's, Merrimack Chorus, in 2002 and
the Nashua Symphony Chorus in 2004 and then the NCE in 2007. When not singing,
Kim enjoys spending time with her husband and two young sons.
Dennis Duggan, tenor
Dennis has been a member of the Nashua Symphony Chorus since 1998 and
the Nashua Choral Ensemble since since 1999. He also has been singing in the
Centennial Choir at St. Joseph's Cathedral in Manchester since 1992
and the Folk Group at Our Lady Of Mercy in Merrimack since 1989. When not
singing, Dennis enjoys playing guitar, gardening, making wine, and spending
time with his children and grandchildren.
Bill Mauser, tenor
Bill has been singing with the Choral Society and NCE since 2002, and he particularly
has enjoyed learning and performing an expanding repertory of quality classical
choral works. He has performed in many musical and dramatic community theater
productions over the past two decades, including leading roles in
The Music Man, How To Succeed in Business Without Really Trying,
and My Fair Lady.
John Moran, tenor
John started singing in school choirs, glee clubs, and in minstrel shows beginning
when he was 6 years old. He has been singing in choruses, madrigal groups,
chamber choirs, and men's choirs continuously since 1972. Concert tours
included performances in Vienna, Venice, and Cologne, Germany, and recently a
concert in Rome. He has several years of formal vocal training and has performed
with the New Hampshire Symphony Chorus, White Mountain Festival of the Arts,
Berkshire Choral Institute, and an Interfaith choir. John joined the Nashua
Symphony Chorus in 1996 and is currently the tenor section leader.
Joe Strube, tenor
Joe has sung with vocal ensembles for most of his adult life. In New York, he
sang with the Huntington Chorale and Hudson Valley Chorus. Here in New
England, Joe has sung with the Rockingham Choral Society and, for the
past several years, the Nashua Symphony Chorus, of which he is a
past president.
A.L. ("Buck") Buchanan, bass
Buck has been singing in church and school choirs since the mid-1940s and
in adult choruses since 1950. Men's glee clubs, mixed choruses,
and musical choruses and leads all have been included, and, except for
a few years when travel for work as a system engineer interfered, he's
been at it the whole time. Musicals from Red Mill to Gilbert
and Sullivan and, most recently, Kiss Me Kate have mixed in with
stints in the Merrimack Valley Chorale, the Nashoba Valley Chorale,
the Chelmsford and Bedford Choral Societies, the Ralph Farris Chorale,
and now the Granite State Opera chorus, Nashua Symphony Chorus,
and the NCE.
Doug Dalrymple, bass
Doug started singing in church and school choirs in the 1970s. He studied voice at
the University of Lowell (now UMass Lowell) while pursuing a degree in science.
Doug has sung with the Bedford Choral Society and the University of Lowell
(now UMass Lowell) chorus. He joined the Nashua Symphony Choral Society in 2006
and the NCE in 2007. He is the Vice President of the Nashua Symphony Chorus.
Wally Schier, bass
Wally has sung in church choirs and choral groups since grade school. In high
school, he was a member of the glee club and formed a quartet. Likewise,
as a college student, he formed a quartet and performed in musicals
every year. As a young faculty member at the University of Virginia,
Wally sang for three years with the Virginia Singers. He has been a member
of the Nashua Symphony Chorus for over 30 years, having joined
that group in 1969.
