Concerts in the Schools
This year, NSO Principal Trumpet Richard Watson led a brass quintet through twelve performances for elementary school students. The program began with the musicians talking about music, encouraging the children to participate by asking questions, discussing their particular instruments followed by a musical performance. The expressions on the children's faces as they participated and volunteered information on their own musical experiences brought home how effective the "Concerts in the Schools" program continues to be.
Donna Kraus, trustee of the Nashua Symphony and parent of two elementary school students, commented:
"I was at the concert at Bicentennial School. It was very gratifying, both as a parent and as a trustee to witness so many students so engaged in both the educational and entertainment aspects of this concert. It was a terrific exchange of concepts in music relative to the city's elementary music program, and I know hearing from my own children that this is something they look forward to now every school year."
The "Concerts in the Schools" has been a vital part of the Nashua Symphony Association's ongoing commitment to educational outreach programs as well as its core mission of providing professional orchestral music in the Nashua region.
Concerts in the Schools is made possible by the generosity of King’s Daughters Benevolent Association, Xilinx Foundation, and individual donors to the NSA Annual Fund.
